What others are saying about Life Coach Academy
Officer Josh Jarvis, Henrico County Police Officer During the school year we had Coach Bailey in the building, this school year was different than previous school years due to the presence of Coach Bailey. The revolving door, or repeat offenders within the School appeared to vanish with the de-escalation skills taught by Coach Bailey, I was hearing radio traffic of students making the choice to talk issues out with Coach vs. resulting to a fist fight. During this school year, I had the opportunity to participate in the assemblies and have dialog with the students about making the right choice, the students trusted Coach and were seeing other options to deal with conflict. Coach Bailey never wavered from the goals/objectives, and his teachings were making an impact on the student population.I think his calm demeanor helped gain the trust of these students who may not have anyone in their life like him. One last thing about Coach Bailey, he always liked to involve the SRO while talking to the students, not to scare them but to allow the SRO to build a relationship with the student and mentor them as well. I personally have relationships with students because of Coach Bailey. Coach Bailey’s Life Skills would be beneficial to all students. These life skills are not genetic traits, they have to be taught and seeing what impact it had in one school year, I could only imagine the impact of several years.
I have noticed a dramatic change in Nicloe’s behavior once she joined Coach Bailey’s team, she seemed to gain a lot of energy to help out and volunteer as she had never done before in her life. Coach Bailey has made a major impact on her life and they have a great relationship! She has really become a much more spirited person and I am so proud of her. Thank you Coach Bailey…
I have had several opportunities to have Coach Bailey speak to my groups of 6th grade students and each time I am in awe of his message of positivity and his approach to connecting to students. Coach is all about teams and what is awesome about his team is that anyone can join! Coach’s team focuses on being POSITIVE and staying in the green (when your green you are good, yellow your feeling kind of in the middle, and red is a place you do not want to be in long). One of my favorite things Coach talked about is how we should make a practice harder than the game. If practice is easier than the game, we got to change the game and push ourselves to get better! Our program has the moderate virtual participation, but when Coach was there with his message and energy I have yet to see that amount of participation and positivity from students! They loved seeing him and hearing how he would handle situations they have dealt with using his approaches to life. I cannot express enough how great of a program Coach runs and I want to be a part of the team too!
I enjoyed having Mr. Bailey attends our tutoring session for our tutoring session for Building Mindful Learners Program because of the positive energy and attentiveness he shows towards our students. Specifically, our students wrote him some follow-up questions after he was introduced to us and he did a great job being personable and friendly in answering them. One of my students thought he must be a preacher! Thank you, Mr. Bailey, for your support and all that you do to help children. Mentoring is so important to children who need/deserve positive role models like you.
Mr. Bailey’s motivational teaching is a great asset to the Building Mindful Learner’s program. He engages the kids from the beginning to the end which is often hard to do given the attention span of young people. Through his easy-going personality and relatable anecdotes, Mr. Bailey was able to connect with the hearts and minds of the children. I really admired how Coach Bailey was able to help these students see the importance of being in control of their emotions and choosing to react positively regardless of what situation they may face. All the children walked away feeling inspired and empowered to continue to persevere in school and in life to be the best version of themselves. Many of them even requested that Mr. Bailey be a regular speaker with our program because of the impact that his speech had on them. We hope that more children will get opportunity to benefit from Mr. Bailey’s motivational speeches because there is a great need for positive influences in the lives of young people.
I have asked Mr. Michael (Coach) Bailey to speak to my student’s multiple times in the past two years, whether it is with my whole class or individual students. I have seen him coach students and spread the word to be positive. When Coach Bailey speaks, the students LISTEN, and they don’t want it to end. In the past two years with Coach Bailey at Fairfield, I have witnessed numerous students who have joined his Dean’s Team become more positive, more responsible, and more focused on what is important. For example: I had one 7th grade student for the 2019-2020 school year that always was wrapped up in drama. She would sleep through class, argue with classmates (and many times, teachers), and refused to do what was asked of her by her teachers. In the few months she was on Coach Bailey’s “Dean’s Team,” she turned into a different student. She worked hard, she asked questions, and she always kept her head up even on bad days. We went from having a rough teacher/student relationship to her calling me her favorite teacher, and we have kept in touch throughout the COVID-19 lockdowns and through her 8th grade year. Oh, and did I mention she did ALL of her OPTIONAL work when we first closed down? That was Coach Bailey’s voice in her head motivating her to be the best her she could be! Even though Coach Bailey’s talks are geared towards middle school students, I have found myself thinking about what he would say or do in a situation. Just the other day, I had a bad moment, and I thought, “I need to get back on green!” Coach Bailey is spreading the love and positivity around Fairfield for EVERYONE, and we are so lucky to have him!
Morning Coach Bailey, Thank you so much for coming in to speak with the Building Mindful Learners Program last week and coming back this week to answer their questions this week! The students were so engaged and motivated hearing you talk with them. I have already seen some of the students applying the concepts and rules you shared both in the classroom and in the program. To come back and personally answer their questions and provide even more resources for the students to stay green, motivated, and positive speaks of your dedication and passion. As sixth graders and teachers transitioned to parallel hybrid teaching this week, I personally have used and reflected on your words numerous times this past week. Your statement that it is okay to lose and there are times that you will lose has been a mindset that I have used for my students and myself as we adjust to this new routine- things will not always go perfectly or as planned and that is okay because that is life. Throughout the week, I have reminded my students (and myself) to stay green instead of turning red because a negative attitude attracts a negative mindset and lifestyle. At the start of the building mindful learners’ program, we had the students and staff come up with 3 positive affirmations to say to themselves every morning to start the day. I personally have added “be coachable” and “be you” to my daily affirmations. Thank you so much for coming to speak with us and “giving us a brick” to help build ourselves.
